Jasmine Morand, dancer and choreographer January 2024

Jasmine was born in Valais (Switzerland). Jasmine receives a first scholarship from the Pierino Ambrosoli Foundation in 1993 for her dance studies at the private ballet school Ecole de Danse Classique Geneviève Chaussat in Geneva. This is followed by Jasmine's engagements at the Zurich Opera House, the National Ballet Lorraine and the Ballet of the Ljubljana Opera House. In 2000-2002, Jasmine receives a second scholarship from the Pierino Ambrosoli Foundation for her studies in contemporary dance at the renowned Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. Since then, Jasmine is internationally successful as a choreographer. In 2007, she returns to Switzerland and founds her company Prototype Status in Vevey, which since is running in Switzerland, Europe, the USA and South America. The company currently benefits from a joint support agreement between the city of Vevey and the canton of Vaud as well as from a permanent residence in the Dansomètre, a choreographic creative space in Vevey. Prototype Status is a professional contemporary dance company founded in French-speaking Switzerland by choreographer and dancer Jasmine Morand. In France, Prototype Status – Cie Jasmine Morand is an associated artist at the Paul Eluard Theater Winner of the 2013 Dance Prize from the Fondation Vaudoise pour la Culture, Jasmine Morand tours with her company in more than ten countries, between Europe, the United States and South America.
Aiming as much at a democratization of contemporary dance as at a sharp and consistent research into body language, her artistic commitment presents a fine and singular balance between the conceptual and the aesthetic.

A choreographic research which does not hesitate to combine with new technologies and visual arts to weave a hybrid and innovative work.
The company's repertoire has more than fifteen pieces to its credit, including the very notable creation MIRE (2016), a device for twelve dancers, selected at the Swiss Dance Days 2017 and presented more than fifty times, notably at the Holland Dance Festival, on French national stages or at the tanzhaus NRW Düsseldorf. The creation LUMEN (2020) is the winner of the Label+ Romand – performing arts competition and receives the Swiss Performing Arts Prize as best dance creation 2020, awarded by the Federal Office of Culture. Internationally, LUMEN has toured, among others, at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris and the Kuopio International Dance Festival in Finland.
The new large-scale creation, MIRKIDS, for eight dancers, is selected for the RESO co-production fund and is a great success on the Swiss and French stages for more than 100 dates in the 2023-2024 season.
